New products, convenient locations result from First National Bank merger with Troy Bank

First National Bank of Brundidge and Troy Bank and Trust Company officially merged July 1, 2020, and Pike, Dale, Coffee, Houston, and Lee County residents will benefit from the best offerings and services of both banks.

We are all excited about this new merger, as it will mean great things for both banks’ customers. Troy Bank and First National Bank are both long-standing members of their communities, and our powerful mutual history is a testament to our staying power, impressive financial offerings, and unparalleled local customer service.

First National has been a family-owned business, and Troy Bank is an independently owned bank to this day. Together, we are a force to be reckoned with for the families in the communities where we are located.

So what advantages does the merger bring to both sets of our customers? Well, there are many!

1: Troy Bank Can Never Be Bought Out

It should be a comfort to the First National Bank customers that Troy Bank will not, and in fact cannot, be bought out. Moreover, we’re the only bank of our kind in the US! Why is this?

Charles Henderson, Troy Bank & Trust founder, became the majority stockholder of TB&T, eventually owning 51.12%. At his death in 1937, pursuant to his will, Henderson created a Charitable Perpetual Trust and transferred his stock to Troy Bank & Trust as the Trustee. A stipulation in his will expressly states that the TB&T stock held in the Trust is never to be sold, thus ensuring that Troy Bank & Trust can never be purchased.

2: Both Banks Combined Offer New Locations, Maintaining Staff.

Troy Bank has 14 banking offices in Pike, Dale, Coffee, Houston, and Lee counties, including our main office in Troy. First National Bank operated offices in Brundidge and in Troy. So customers of both banks get to take advantage of the expanded footprint Troy Bank now offers. Not only is Troy Bank not closing any of the First National Bank branches, but we also don’t have any plans to make any drastic changes in personnel or locations for the foreseeable future.

So, if you’ve had your favorite teller or loan officer for years, never fear – they’re still around!

3: Troy Bank Has Offerings That You Thought Only The “Big Banks” Have

Troy Bank is on the cutting edge of technological advancements in the banking world. They offer tools that have their customers “wow’ed”, and they are quite competitive with larger national banks in the Wiregrass region.

A few examples include:

  • A mobile banking app offering a multitude of handy features, including:
  • Zelle – your alternative to Venmo, PayPal, or Cash App
  • Mobile electronic deposits
  • Bill pay
  • MobileWallet – Touchless Store Checkout App
  • SecurLOCK™️ – Keeping Your Debit Card Information Safe
  • Our own line of branded credit cards
  • A credit card merchant program
  • Cash management for commercial customers
  • We are part of the Allpoint ATM network. Even if you are not at a Troy Bank ATM, if you’re at an Allpoint ATM, you won’t be charged a fee. There are 55-60K locations throughout the country!
