Troy Bank & Trust
Cell Phone Text Scam
Troy Bank & Trust strives to keep your information secure. Please be extra cautious regarding text messages, emails, and phone calls you receive asking for your bank account or debit card number.
Please be cautious with fraudulent text messages that lure consumers in stating their debit cards are cut off and reply to a toll free number. Return calls to the number have the victim enter card or account data which is "validated" by having it entered a second time. This fraud is also known as smishing (phishing attempt via SMS text message to a mobile phone) in an attempt to trick recipients into providing sensitive financial information.
As a reminder, Troy Bank & Trust will never ask for personal information in a text message or an email. If you receive a message like this, please do not respond to it and report it to us at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you believe you have provided personal or account information in response to a fraudulent text or email, please contact a Troy Bank & Trust eBanking Specialist at 334.807.5186 or toll free at 888.258.8769 ext. 5186.
